Inside Beyoncé and Blue Ivy's "Very Special Bond" - W

Posted: 25 Jul 2019 10:32 AM PDT

Beyoncé, famously one of the most hard-working and dedicated people on the planet, is of course a superstar. But so is her eldest child. Throughout her short life, 7-year-old Blue Ivy Carter has delighted the public–who else could get away with shushing two of the most powerful celebrities on Earth at the Grammys?

Blue Ivy, who will be entering second grade this fall in Los Angeles, recently appeared in her mother's video for "Brown Skin Girl," off of Beyoncé's latest widely-acclaimed release, The Lion King: The Gift, an album accompanying the new Lion King live-action film. You can catch Blue singing a few lines on the song, and she even got a songwriting credit (her first one ever came as a newborn, when she cooed and gurgled on dad Jay-Z's "Glory"). And in the wake of the video's release, People published an inside look at Blue Ivy and Beyoncé's relationship.

"Of course both Beyoncé and Blue love music," a source told the magazine. "Blue loves singing, dancing and performing. She is a natural."

"She is very sassy, high energy and knows what she wants," the source continued. "Especially after the twins were born, Beyoncé made sure that Blue was able to embrace her new role as a big sister. She also lets her go to video shoots, award shows and music recording. They have a very special bond!"

Beyoncé, also mom to 2-year-old twins Rumi and Sir, is obviously busy. "[Beyoncé] is busy making a schedule and taking care of her kids. She makes sure they have scheduled activities and tutoring," said the source. "She loves being a mom and wants to be around as much as possible."

"It might seem like her career would take up all her time, but it's quite the opposite. Her career is always second and her kids are her first priority," they continued. "She is a fantastic mom and very involved."

The source did not comment on how Jay-Z balances fatherhood with his busy career.

Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and the Case of the Reverse Ding-Dong Ditch Prankster, a 2019 Hamptons Mystery - Vanity Fair

Posted: 01 Aug 2019 01:17 PM PDT

It's time to put an end to the rumors. It'd be a big disservice to allow this pernicious idea—the idea that no one in the Hamptons is having any fun—to spread any further. Sure, you've caught wind of all the cordial tennis matches, and a little bird told you about the dead-serious helicopter drama. You've see the sober Architectural Digest spreads featuring homes with every Baccarat glass in its place and every lawn clipped into submission, and you know that dance floors are filled with the respectable rug-cutting of the country's oldest and most venerable toads. But you never hear about fun being had on the two silver forks out east. This idea that no Hamptonites are having any of it at all has been allowed to fill the void.

Until now, thank goodness. The East Hampton Star police blotter, essential reading to Page Six and to all of us, has brought news of a fountain of joy that sprung up in this fun desert. Pranks, folks. There's a prankster afoot. Last Saturday the cops were called to the home of Jay-Z and Beyoncé because an unknown man rang the talk button on the driveway keypad.

The prank is not a case of ding-dong and ditch, though that too could hack away at this Hamptons stoicism well enough. No, it turns out that the police were called because, per the man, a friend had invited him over, but did not tell him that it was Beyoncé and Jay-Z's private home. He had arrived around midnight, rang the bell, and gave a name on the intercom that was neither "Jay-Z" nor "Beyoncé" nor "Blue" nor "Blue Ivy" nor "the twins." The security guards reportedly turned him away and called the police. When he was apprehended a few doors down, the man told the cops the story of exactly how he had been owned by his "friend," and then "police escorted him to the East Hampton train station," per the blotter.

And just like that, a little magic alighted on the Hamptons. It's a bit of an icebreaker, isn't it? Finally, all these stiffs can let their hair down. Did you hear the one about the doorbell? They're all murmuring to one another at the local watering hole over a chilled glass of Wölffer.

I guess the only question remains is who is this prankster? Whose hand can we shake for giving the Hamptons its new brand of whimsy? We don't know his or her name since it was redacted on the blotter; all we know is that it was a jokester, one who would send a pal in the middle of the night to the vacation home of American royalty.

It sounds a lot like a George Clooney joint, sure. That guy knows how to have fun, and it seems reasonable that he'd know the address. But he and his wife, Amal, were in Italy this weekend. There are photos of her wearing the "most charming fringe dress," and he, doting husband, was looking too devoted to pull off one of his famous tricks from all the way over there.

So if it's not Clooney, then there's no way of knowing who did it, unless you're the officer on the case or the security guard on duty. Was it a Raya hookup gone hilarious? Or a local teen with a limited grasp on consequences? Was it Wilbur Ross, the pranker, and Rudy Giuliani, the prankee, a couple of boys being boys? Can't say. Good thing the only thing that's more fun than even a Hamptons doorbell prank is a big Hamptons mystery.
