I am a girly girl when it comes to scents. Bring anything sweet, heady, bakery-esque, rose infused, chocolate laden near my nose and I'll take it. Being quite easy to please in the perfume department, I am overwhelmed with choices at my local pharmacy, the good old John Lewis as well as brand snob stores like Selfridges and Harrods. Today, however I have something for you highly selective lot out there. The ones that look for dimension, depth and unique concoctions when it comes to fragrances. If you identify yourself as someone who cringes at Thierry Mugler's Angel as regularly as they frown at DKNY's Be Delicious range, then this deviant blend if for you my friend.
Found by an English-based, Parisian perfumer in 1880's, Bronnley was one of the first few brands in Britain to dominate the fragrance industry. Part of their Eclectic Elements range, Zealous Flower is fruity, musky and spicy in order of it's notes. If you've always had a soft spot for men's scents, then this will be your cup of tea. This formulation is definitely getting a nod of approval from the lads in the household. Pink pepper, Amber, Pear, Jasmine and Mandarin dominate this nonconformist mix. No hints of heady, powdery or alcohol-heavy dry down involved in this. It's all quite clean and fresh. Surprisingly, like a lovely, high-end home scent. Two thumbs up to Bronnley for encouraging the modern interpretation of perfume. Typical fragrance adjectives like 'sultry', 'romantic' and 'attractive' are not what describe this. It's the Alexa Chung and Cara Delevingne of scents. Confident, individualistic and eccentrically beautiful.
