PS Love Primark Nails + L'occitane Hand Cream Review

Last year I saw a colleague of mine wearing an eye captivating shade of minty green that I just had to compliment and enquire as to where she got such a nail polish (I am always on the hunt). In a coy hush way she uttered the words Primark to which my loud mouth exclaimed "Really I can't believe it! Primark, are you sure?". Part of me felt that maybe I was being deceived ... Was the effortless chic nail polish which appeared on trendy stiletto shaped nails really from Primark? Naw - No way - for only a pound- it could not be, maybe its from Essie. I don't know why but, the thought that this polish was from Primark and was £1 didn't rest well with me (maybe because I had just spent some serious dough on Leighton Denny Polishes). How could such an awe inspiring colour be sold at such a cheap price all year round and why did I not know about it sooner?

It's real my peeps, unicorns do exist ... I took the cap off the bottle not because the £1 sticker was annoying me lol (despite what I say), I found that screwing it back on with the actual brush was annoying (never turned the right way) and its not really needed so ... *chucks it in the bin*.
Ok the later is a lie. I knew about Primark nail polish but, owing to some historic one-pound-shop nail polish faux pas, I had become a little bit of a snob. What was this faux pas? Well imagine buying a polish thinking that it was a glitter and finding out that it was in fact, a streaky watery mess that would only apply possibly one or two shimmers on the nail. Need I say more.

So with curiosity rising in my bones, I found the shade and added some Primark nail polishes to my collection some costing as little as 80p (on sale) *massive smug smile*.

Now onto the review ...

This polish is one of my favourite kinds a minty green. It reminds me of the bathtub in my faimly's house when I was growing up, so I always call it 'the bathtub shades' (in my mind of course). One of my favourite colours is green (the other is blue) so its only natural that I adore practically every and any shade of green or blue a nail polish can throw at me (keep em coming).

I really need to get new curtains ... otherwise the polish is nice :)

Application: The brush is thick and short + the polish is on the thick side so, it does have a tendency to be a bit difficult to apply. First coat is a bit streaky but, the second coat provides complete opacity. I topped off this mani with Poshe's top coat (review coming) to help the thick layers dry faster and to give me some room to actually move around and be free.

Colour: A minty bright green. It doesn't have a name but if I was to name it - I'd call it ... 'Serendipity' even though I can't say that word properly hehe

Finish: Crème.

Dry Time: Dries relatively quickly ... give it 5-6 mins and it will be dry enough to touch.

Wear Time: Testing ...

Packaging: Its ok. The rectangular cap is really not needed though - honestly.

Any other thoughts: I think I make this point so much that its becoming redundant - this polish will defo work on all skin tones. I think all skin tones can rock any shade they want yes some colours might blend better but, when it comes to polish (and makeup in general) - just express yourself. I say this because maybe someone out there is frightened that a colour may not work but let me be the voice that says it will! Maybe you just need to find the right formula and shade and then it will be magic. I know there was a time when I was scared of too loud shades and stumbling on makeup websites that stated pale pastels work best on short nails, long nails shouldn't wear red and dark skin should stick to this and pale skin to that - no I say - just follow the lines of expressing your beauty and self through the creativity of makeup and you'll do just fine *Jumps off soap box*

Ingredients and Expiration: Pictured below - yeah being kinda lazy but meh ...
P.S. Love Nail Polish Ingredients and Expiration
Price: £1 for a 10ml bottle

End Thoughts: The colour is fantastic. The formula is ok though streaky on the 1st coat but, for it to be opaque in two coats is great! I have worn other polishes from my newly acquired Primark collection and honestly the wear time is not too bad (2-3 days) when considering that some of the higher end polishes I have, can even chip on the first day (no joke). Plus I found that Primark polishes are really easy to apply over chipping nails or nail tip wear so any chips or wear can be easily albeit temporarily fixed. Plus for those who are worried about Primark nail polish being tested on animals (cause I was/am concerned) from their website, they claim to not endorse or accept animal testing from their suppliers ... Ultimately, I really like this polish!

A Review: L'Occitane Vanilla Bouquet

Mustard Coloured packaging kinda nice ... Ingredients on the far right hand side : First ingredient being Aqua/Water then Shea Butter, Glycerine etc.

Background: This hand cream was one of those freebies in a magazine. Well it wasn't in fact a freebie because, I basically only bought the magazine for the hand cream but ya know what I mean. Usually it retails for around £8 and I bought the "magazine" for around £4-5 (not so free now - right lol)

Consistency: This cream is thick but not stodgy, it takes some time to work into dry hands but leaves the hands very plump and soft feeling. Its not greasy at all and leaves no residue from what I can tell.

Smell: A very soft light Vanilla - a unisex scent that's not particularly feminine or masculine. I don't really like the scent as I don't think it matches the name ... 'Vanilla Bouquet' sounds tempting and alluring like it will hit you with a wondrous sweet aroma but, all ya get is an extremely light Vanilla smell. If it had been just called plain old 'Vanilla' I don't think I would have room to complain.

Does it moisturise?: Yes. Really helps ashy hands out though depending on what you're getting up to .. the moisture level can decrease after a while though.

Would you recommend it / buy it again?: Not this scent. I like L'Occitane as a company and my Mother is in love with their Shea Butter hand cream (like IN LOVE). I like the fact that L'Occitane has charitable funds linked to the main sources of their products (like Shea Butter producers etc.) ... Apparently, every woman's day L'Occitane makes a product where 100% of the money obtained goes to a worthy cause - this year - the women of Burkina Faso - its an apricot solidarity balm. I don't know about you but I Love me some apricots, so I'll definitely be getting some - I can even check the stock in my local store - its in stock! Yippe - its only £4 so I'm eager to try it. Ahem - back to the question. The hand cream is nice in feel and texture but, I'm not in love with it. For me when products are scented they really need to match my taste and this just didn't (along with Cherry Blossom - that was also free in a mag)

That's all for now folks! :)

Oh wait one last thing ... I'm planing on taking better care of my nails and grow them out. So, I'll be blogging more about nail polish and care. Let me say this: it will be an experiment :).
