Colourpop Haul

She's A Bad Mama Jama
Yeah I did it. For a long time I've been low key peeved at Colourpop for not shipping internationally but that all changed last year when the flood gates opened for UK shipping and your gal was finally able to partake in the Colorpop-eryI'm sorry but I was not going to be that girl who set up a US PO Box etc. I mean Colourpop your $5 items were so beautiful and tempting but, it really shouldn't have taken y'all so long and been, so hard to reach the land which the sun forgets (UK) *chucks salt*.

Salty? ...  Me?! ... No, neva.

So ... what did I get? Naturally a whole lot of lip stuff but, I did restrain and stopped myself from overdosing on lip gloss - I stuck to a few liquid lipsticks, lipsticks, an eyeliner and a blush. Overall I think I did pretty good considering I wanted to dabble in the colourful world of Colourpop for a long while. So, for what its worth, here are my honest opinions. I was not sent these items to review, I am not sponsored by any company and if a product is sh*te my bitter butt has no problems telling you. Goodbye endorsement deals! Oh and yeah I did get a custom charge :( - they always catch me :(.

Liquid Lipsticks
Ultra Matte

I bought 11 liquid lipsticks from Colourpop. 9  Ultra Mattes and 2 Satin Mattes. I've tried my best to take pictures that showcase the colours truly and if possible show how they initially apply and dry down. Underneath each swatch picture I have included the description that colourpop claims the shades to be and my brief thoughts - for my complete opinion of Colourpop's formulas/overall opinion scroll to the end of this post.

Viper - a true dusty rose
Viper: is a very wearable pink for dark skin. Compared to other colourpop liquid lipsticks Viper dried matte pretty quickly.

Love Bug - a rich mahogany
Love Bug: doesn't look like a "rich mahogany" to me - instead it looks like a deep rusty pink shade - being just slightly less vibrant than Mama (see below lip swatch). It's nice.

Mama - a burnt orange
Mama: Not a dark as I though it would be ... and more reddish orange than I expected. Colour me shocked. Although its slowly growing on me - certainly a very bright burnt orange shade.

Kae - A warm yellow brown
Kae: This is how I thought Limbo would look when it dried down. Alternatively limbo looks like the picture below on the far right. I was apprehensive about purchasing this as I thought a warm yellow brown might've been too light for me but, I actually really like this shade (even more than Limbo shhh...).

Limbo - a deep chocolate brown
Limbo: is probably the hottest colourpop matte lip colour for dark skin. I fell in love with the countless swatches on dark deep skin that I was hopefully certain it would look just as nice on me .... Honestly, it wasn't love at first try. Compared to the other countless dark pouts - limbo was much darker than I expected on me. Of course its still a beautiful shade but, I just thought it would look more akin to its wet form than its drier reality ... Oh and if you're wondering - Yes - Limbo is a perfect dupe for True Brown K.

Saigon - a vibrant warm-toned red
Saigon: An apt description. Very vivid & very red. I'm the type of girl to wear it straight out the tube and keep it moving - if you're not into folks questioning your sanity - try using a darker lip liner to tone it down. Even I must admit that mixed with a nice deep red this shade is much more day friendly & flattering.

Avenue - a deep brick red
Avenue: A really pretty wearable red. Its the type of red that is continually shoved at suggested for dark skin. One really can't go wrong with a shade like this, its beautiful.

Rooch - a deepened russet wine
Rooch: Absolutely gorgeous. You will not be disappointed.

Lax - a vamp red
Lax: Stunning. I was completely enamoured with all the dark/deep lip swatches online that I simply had to get this & I'm super glad I did.

Satin Matte

Femme - A muted dirty lilac
Femme: surprised me - I like it. I thought it would be too pale and light but, Femmes muted tones actually work nicely on dark skin for an alternative dusty lavender nude.

Cozy - A orange red
Cozy: A very bright reddish orange. For everyday round the way wear I would mix this up with darker lip liners. For statement lips though you will enjoy the zing factor - I like its tropical vibe.
Lip Liner
aka#
"Lippie Pencil"
Poison - a brick red
Poison:  It's a really soft, smooth and pigmented brick red. Probably one of the best lip liners I have. Unfortunately, its the only colourpop lip liner I have - my only regret is that I should've tried more shades. Seriously, it applies so well I would feel happy wearing this on its own which I normally wouldn't do.

Lipsticks
aka#
Lippie Stix
Love Life - brownish matte brick red
Love Life: a dream to apply, beautiful shade and effect.
Trust Me - a vivid true matte red

Trust me: very bold, smooth and gorgeous.

Poppin' - a vibrant matte raspberry

Poppin': perfect name for the perfect shade of summery pink

Crème Gel Liner

Punch - a canary yellow

Punch: Hmm if I was to sum this up in one word it would be - disappointing. Yes it is a somewhat bright yellow on my skin but, its not particularly smooth or creamy and it breaks really easily. In fact, I'm glad it kept crumbling on me as I attempted to swatch it on my hand and line my eyes (very patchy) as I can't wait for it to finish.

Blush

Bardot - a rusty red copper .
On my skin I wore a Becca's Luminous Skin Colour in Sepia* now discontinued and Mac Natural Skin Finish in Dark  applied on top.

Bardot: From Left to Right - The first picture shows my cheek area without any blush, then the blush itself, a swatch of it on my hand and lastly how it looks on my cheek. I applied it heavily here so don't worry - it doesn't effortlessly come out so strong on the skin. I do like this blush but, I must say I am more impressed with its texture. Its a malleable squishy smooth formula that I would be eager to try in their eye shadow formulations (laments) as I love creamy eye shadows (their so easy to swipe on and remove!). Anyway, Bardot is a great shade that when applied sheer will give a healthy shimmery gleam to the skin, or if applied intensely can really show off its rusty copper hue - either way I can't really see any negatives.

End Thoughts

Colourpop liquid lipsticks are nice but they're definitely not my favourite formula.
Positives: They don't have a weird smell/taste, don't take too long to dry down and there's an amazing range of shades, textures and finishes. Oh & I'm pretty sure Colourpop is behind Kylie's liquid lipstick line with a few tweaks (scent, moisture) so essentially they are the same quality without the severe mark up.
Negatives: Personally I find them a bit too flat feeling on bare lips when they dry down with little to no moisture or creaminess - with a  tendency to flake when dried if you've applied too much or your lips are very dry. Also, after swatching these shades and wiping them off with baby wipes my lips were completely wrecked like never before. I'm talking strips of skin hanging off everywhere 2 days later.
My tip: Apply a thin layer of lip balm (even better to use an oil if possible) on your lips - allow it to soak in - then apply the liquid lipstick. To remove use oil or lip balm - slather it on and wipe off with a cotton pad. Using lip balm underneath these liquid lipsticks solves all its problems and it feels so much better - although it makes its slightly transferable.

Overall I pretty much loved everything else - apart from the awful liner. The lipsticks have an awesome formula. They are very smooth, creamy and pigmented each shade has around 1 gram (1.0 gram / 0.352 oz) worth of product which makes it not as inexpensive as other lipsticks out there but, a little bit goes a long way. The lip liner is grand etc. etc. To be honest I think the only reason why the lip liners, lipsticks and blush formulas are not any more hyped is because we currently live in a liquid to dry matte lipstick obsessed world. Colourpop is a fun brand that has plenty to choose from for a varied taste buds - definitely worth a look.
